XTERRA South Central Cup Triathlon Course Description

Waco, Texas, located right in the middle of Texas between Austin and Dallas (about 90 min from both), will host the 2010 XTERRA South Central “Throw Down”! You may wonder what’s so special about Waco…; it’s the people, the places, and the park. Cameron Park sits on the Brazos River (Lake Brazos) and has hosted several top level NORBA, trail running, and various endurance events, but this is the first time it is to be used for an off-road triathlon. The super single track dives in and out of gullies, around (and over)trees, and winds its way throughout the scenery. It’s 99% beautiful single track but it is no walk in the park. It will kick your tail whether you’re running or biking.
All park fees are included with all Race Revolutions races and you will not leave hungry or empty handed!

Swim Course Description - 1500M
We call it Lake Brazos but it’s a river. So there is some current but my guess is that it will be virtually undetectable. Bring your wetsuit just in case for this early season challenge! The swim course will have an in-water start and be loop.

Bike Course Description – 15 Miles
Out of T1, we’ll head down the River Trail for a ¼ mile and dive onto the beautiful Cal 56 trail. Cal 56 will give you a perfect taste of what’s to come for your entire bike split…climbing, switchbacks, rocks, roots, twisty single track, and more climbing! Before you come, make sure you get in some serious interval training on short steep climbs because you will see a lot of that out here. You’ll have some down-right technical sections, but nothing death-defying! These trails were rated in the top 50 in the US by Bike Magazine. Have fun!

Run Course Description – 10K
I apologize in advance for how the run segment starts…Jacob’s Ladder was just there and had to be incorporated. Once you get up the 144 (or so) steps it gets better I promise. You will get to see beautiful Proctor Springs, “Miss Nellies Pretty” place, awesome singletrack.

XTERRA Trail Runs - Course Description

The trail run will consist of three different offerings - 5K, 10K , 21K
The 10K course will be the same as the XTERRA Cup race run course and the 5K will cut out half way through. But you’ll still have to do Jacob’s Ladder!    The 21K will start out like the shorter races but will be an “extended” trip on the XTERRA bike course.
