The Central Texas Area Rotary Clubs and the City of Harker Heights Parks and Recreation Department are joining together again this year to raise awareness and funds for the eradication of polio with our Monster Dash 5K walk/run, 5K team (four person) competition, 10K run, and 10K hand cycle race event. There will also be the free, ¼ mile, Little Monster Dash for children 10 years old and under. All proceeds from this event will be used by The Rotary Foundation for the eradication of polio. Costumes, especially for the Little Monster Dash, are encouraged. This is a sanctioned race of the Cen-Tex race series.

An exciting addition to the Monster Dash this year, is the team (four person) competition in the 5K run. We will give trophies to teams with the best total time in the following categories: First Responders (Fire, Police and EMS), Military Unit and Business/Organization.

 

ENTRY FORMS:  Individuals, use the individual entry form. Teams, use the team entry form. Little Monster Dash, no entry form required.

 

ENTRY FEE: Individuals, on or before October 19 ^th, by 9 pm, $20.  After October 19 ^th, and the day of the race, $25.  Teams, on or before October 19 ^th, by 9 pm, $20 per team member plus a one time $25 team registration fee.  There will be no late registration for teams!!! All registered runners will receive a T-shirt. Preregistered runners will be given size preference. The Little Monster Dash for children 10 years old and under, is free.

 

CHECK IN: All participants, race packets may be picked up starting at 6:30 AM the day of the race at Harker Heights Community Park, 1501  E. FM 2410.

 

AWARDS:  5K walk/run: Plaque for overall male/female. Medals for 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place in age groups: 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 and over.

5K team race: All team members are eligible for any of the individual awards listed above. A team trophy will be awarded for the best team time in each of the following categories: First Responders (Fire, Police and EMS), Military Unit and Business/Organization.

10K: plaque for 1^st place male/female. Medals for 2^nd and 3^rd place (male/female).

10K hand cycle: plaque for 1^st place. Medals for 2^nd and 3^rd place.

Little Monster Dash: all participants will receive a medal.

 

START TIMES: 10K run and 10K hand cycle race: 8:00 am.  5K walk/run and 5K team race: 8:30 am.

Little Monster Dash: 9:30 am.
